LEARNINGS

based on the images alexis (the photographer) compiled for the mood board, i came to understand that she was looking for a flyer aesthetic that looked retro and weathered, but that would still maintain modern design principles and practices. recognizing this,

i decided to pair narrow serifed fonts with a wide sans serif art-deco font. I also duplicated the title treatment, changed the colors to blue, red and yellow, then  offset said duplicates to give the title treatment more dimension.
once the fonts and text treatments were completed, i focused on the imagery. she provided me with an image to use for the flyer, which was such a stunning image.

i actually aimed to conceal most of it, so as not to spoil the impact it would have for viewers seeing it in it's entirety at the show for the first time. I also loved that it created this air of mystery, because it feels so alluring and enticing to viewers, motivating them to come to the show to see more.
